Dermal fillers are the main solutions we use for 'static lines' and 'gravitational folds'. They are injected directly beneath a line or fold to fill the depression it makes in the skin.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers are widely known in the industry by their brand names which include Juvéderm, Teosyal and Restylane.
HA dermal fillers are the main solutions we use for ‘static lines’ and ‘gravitational folds’. They are injected directly beneath a line or fold to fill the depression it makes in the skin.
Dermal fillers contain hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid (hyaluronate) is an important physiological substance that all skin contains naturally. Its key role is to maintain the plumpness and moisture that helps keep the skin surface smooth and lifted, but levels of HA decline with age.
We inject fillers containing transparent hyaluronic acid gel, which over time is broken down by your body’s natural enzymes, just like your natural hyaluronic acid. An extra advantage is that there is an ‘antidote’ for HA fillers – an enzyme called hyaluronidase. So if for any reason you would like us to dissolve your filler, that can be done.
Fillers can be used for all sorts of lines and wrinkles, from deep nose-to-mouth lines to superficial lipstick bleed lines around the mouth. It can also be used for enhancement procedures such as lips, cheeks, nose and chin. The effect is instantly visible, although there may be some minor swelling and bruising. How long the effects last depends on the patient, their lifestyle, age and the areas injected.
HA Dermal Fillers usually last around six to twelve months.
HA dermal fillers are best for:
Collagen generating dermal fillers
Made of tiny calcium-based crystals suspended in a water-based gel, it is used in the mid-face area, often for deep smile lines and marionette lines. The beads initially plump up the target areas, but also stimulate your body to produce its own collagen for a longer-term effect. It can not be used in thin skin around eyes and lips (where its crystals can sometimes be visible). Radiesse typically lasts 12 to 18 months.
The most useful areas to use Radiesse: correcting jaw sagging, face contouring i.e. mid face lifts, cheek enhancement and male jaw shaping. Occasionally we use Radiesse for nose and chin enhancements.
Ellanse stimulates your body to generate new collagen, which gives you a safe, predictable, longer-lasting, youthful and natural look. The ELLANSÉ™ Range is available in four versions, S (1 year), M (2 years), L (3 years) and E (4 years).
The most useful areas to use Ellansé: enhancement procedures, face lifting and contouring, jaw and chin shaping, decollate and hand rejuvenation and general collagen induction therapy.
Radiesse and Ellansé are not reversible, so if you are not happy with the results, you have to wait until it dissipates.
